Nutrition Deficiencies and Medical Conditions
This three-hour self-study is being offered to health and wellness professionals who want to deepen their knowledge on the intricate connections between vitamins, minerals, and medical conditions.
Over the last century, the food system has changed dramatically. This has been due to many factors which include the alterations in farming practices, food storage and cooking methods, just to name a few. While we have more advances in the convenience of daily living, it has come with a price. Many individuals are consuming more processed foods which accounts for over 75% of global food sales. The foods that were once considered natural, such as vegetables, fruits and grains, have lost substantial nutritional value due to soil mineral depletion and are often sprayed with manmade concoctions to ensure crops are ready to be harvested at the same time. In addition, there are genetically engineered crops and farming practices that rely on chemicals that are harmful to the consumers. This doesn't account for the meats that are consumed and the practices of overcrowding farm animals and antibiotic use that impacts human health. Despite the modern advancements in health care, over 50% of those in the United States has been diagnosed with at least one chronic disease. In this course, we'll review the toll that nutrient deficiencies can have on our health. We'll look at more than two dozen health conditions which include autism, ADHD, diabetes, as well as general fatigue, inflammation, headaches, thyroid problems, and weight concerns.
